Extreme landscapes in the desert
South of Tamanrasset lies the Tassili du Hoggar, a vast expanse that extends to the border with Niger. Often people in desert only think of sand. The beauty of the Tassili du Hoggar is that sand and rocks alternate here. Wind and erosion have created a real sculpture garden. In several places you will find rock carvings depicting giraffes, antelopes or elephants, which bear witness to a past in which it has been less dry here than it is today. You can make special camel treks here or a multi-day expedition by 4x4 vehicle.
