Impressive pyramids in Sudan
Nubia is the region in the south of Egypt and northern Sudan. Nubian civilization is one of the oldest in the world. Relations between Nubia and Egypt are complex and stretch over centuries. Egypt, which wanted to control the trade routes to the south, gradually colonized Nubia. Nubia, in turn, mastered the Egyptian throne under the 25th dynasty, and the black pharaohs developed an Egypt-inspired culture. The kingdom of Kush formed a powerful empire, which eventually established its capital in Meroë. Around the year 350 of our era, Nubia was conquered by the Ethiopian kingdom of Axum and Christianity was introduced there. In a beautiful desert landscape, through which the Nile flows as a lifeline, there are still many impressive sites to visit, those stories of this glorious past.
