Expedition cruise to the far north of Spitsbergen

North Svalbard

On this expedition cruise, explore the extreme north of Svalbard up to close to the 82nd parallel. Behold the impressive polar landscape, the extraordinary pack ice and go in search of magnificent polar animals such as Whales, Reindeer, Walruses and the "King of the Arctic", the Polar Bear. The trip begins in the village of Longyearbyen, the administrative center of the Svalbard archipelago. In the early evening, the ship will depart and sail into the great Isfjord, where the first Whales may already be seen. Cruise past beautiful fjords such as Raudfjorden, which is dominated by spectacular glaciers and is a popular spot for Ringed Seals, Bearded Seals and often Polar Bears. Its cliffs are home to large colonies of Thick-billed Guillemots and Kittiwakes. Liefdefjord is polar bear territory and this magnificent predator is therefore regularly observed. The water in front of the glacier front is an interesting foraging area for thousands of Kittiwakes but Belugas are also regularly seen here in front of the glacier. Via Forlandsundet you sail back to Longyearbyen. Where the world can't find you...
