OUR HIKING TOURS
From light day walks to multi-day hiking trails. Worldwide, there are plenty of opportunities to explore the country on foot. If you want to get to know the flora and fauna up close, opt for a walking safari or trekking. A more intense contact with nature is hardly possible and the chance of an encounter with small and large game is almost guaranteed.
In Latin America, centuries-old hiking trails lead you to highlights such as Machu Picchu, the Colca Canyon and pure Patagonia. In Africa, you'll stroll through the Drakensbergen, the Ruwenzori's and the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro to the highest peak in Africa.
In Asia, you can opt for a pilgrimage route, with the biggest challenge being the heavy Nakahechi route of the Kumano Kodo Trail. During treks through the Himalayas, the views are spectacular, nothing but desolate untouched nature as far as the eye can see only interspersed with waving prayer flags.
What can you expect? Most walking tours take you from a tented camp or lodge and last about 3 to 4 hours. Anyone with normal physical health can participate. During your hike a professional guide will accompany you and if necessary an armed ranger will join as well. In some areas, multi-day hiking trails are also possible (including Kruger National Park in South Africa and South Luangwa National Park in Zambia). Also on these walking safaris, anyone who has normal physical health and can carry a day backpack of 5-10 kg.
