Historical Ségou
Ségou is a historic city, best known for its pottery. The city is very suitable to stay for a few days. You can take Djembé lessons, admire the Sudanese architecture applied here, but also visit Segou-koro which is 15 km from the current city. This ancient village was once the capital of the Bambara kingdom. The mosque, the tomb of the founder of this kingdom (King Biton Coulybali) and the tree where justice was spoken, are reminiscent of these long gone times. Ségou is also known for her mud cloths. In one of the workshops you will get acquainted with the various techniques and you will get an explanation about the different materials that are used. In the area of Ségou you can visit a gourd village and a pottery village.
