The country has very diverse natural attractions such as rain forests, grand volcanoes that dominate the landscape, numerous lakes with impressive flora and fauna, as well as beautiful beaches. Not to be missed is the enormous Lake Nicaragua, or Lake Cocibolca, with its extraordinary cluster of volcanic islets: the Isletas de Granada. The west coast - the Costa Esmeralda - has elongated beaches and many places are popular with surfers. Cross over to the east side for beautiful natural areas - such as the Indio Maíz Bioreserve - and the most beautiful tropical beaches.
