Rio San Juan
Unique nature reserve on the border with Costa Rica
The Rio San Juan is a well-preserved natural treasure in Central America with tremendous biodiversity and lots of wildlife. More than 380 bird species are home to the area including the green macaw, the harpy eagle and the crested eagle. Among the mammals we find the jaguar, the tapir, the spider monkey, the white faced monkey, the howler and the ocelot. A boat trip along the river introduces you to caimans, river turtles and sea cows (manatees).
