Versatile Caribbean destination
Nicknamed "Land of the Hummingbird," the islands of Trinidad and Tobago bustle with vibrant culture and nature. The highlights of Trinidad and Tobago are as diverse as the islands themselves. Trinidad bustles with Caribbean energy, where you can't miss the lively atmosphere of Port of Spain and the legendary carnival.
Trinidad, vibrant atmosphere
Trinidad, the largest island and often called the "Rainbow Island," is known for its energetic atmosphere, colorful festivals and rich mix of influences from Africa, India and Europe. Here you will experience the rhythms of calypso and soca, taste spicy street food and discover the dynamic capital Port of Spain, where the world-famous carnival takes place annually. This pristine wilderness of Trinidad supports some of the world's best bird-watching spots, particularly in the rainforest of the Asa Wright Nature Centre and the swamp of the Caroni Bird Sanctuary. Beautiful beaches can be found along the northern coast, with peachy sand, clean blue-green waters and the forest-covered Northern Range as a backdrop. The picturesque Maracas Falls and the Magnificent Seven, a row of early-twentieth-century Trini-Creole colonial villas are also well worth a visit!
Tobago, oasis of calm
Tobago, on the other hand, is an oasis of tranquility. The island has four very different coasts, each with its own charm, including an abundance of idyllic beaches fringed with palm trees, such as Pigeon Point, crystal clear waters and one of the oldest protected rainforests in the world, the Main Ridge Forest Reserve. In addition, the Buccoo Reef is a snorkeler's paradise. If archetypal Caribbean beaches, exotic wildlife and some peace and quiet are what you are looking for, this little paradise is the place to be.
