Rwanda's fourth national park
The high forest of Gishwati and Mukura Forest Reserve form togetherGishwati-Mukura National Park, Rwanda'sfourth national park to open in 2019. The recent protected status gives the thriving ecosystem the chance to recover from the shrinkage that followed habitation, agriculture and illegal mining. The biodiverse nature reserve stretching from the northwest to the south is largely covered with Macaranga kilimandscharica and other native hardwood species, shrubs, blue lichens, giant tree ferns and bamboo forests. It is the ideal living environment forgolden monkeys, chimpanzees,colobus monkeys, servals and other wildlife. The wildlife corridor gives them the freedom to move unhindered by Gishwati Forest, Mukura Forest and Nyungwe Forest.
Birding and Chimpanzee trekking
Primate lovers can indulge in adventurous trekking. Walking you enjoy the tranquility of the surroundings, listening to bird sounds. Experienced guides will help you spot tree hopping, rwenzoritoerakos, weaver birds and wida finches, fighting eagles, white-headed locators, bamboo cane singers and Singers of the Old World, and alert you to the unique features of each observed bird species.
