On safari in South Sudan
Along the border with Ethiopia is the Dinder National Park. The park forms a transition area between the Ethiopian plateau and the arid Saharan region. Many refugees from southern Sudan moved into the area during the war, causing the state of the wild to deteriorate. In 2006 the park was reopened to tourists and since then the wildlife situation has been recovering. There are 27 species of large mammals, such as: buffalo, kudu, roan antelope, spotted hyena, lion and leopard. In terms of scenery and wildlife, the park is certainly not inferior to the parks in Kenya and Tanzania and is therefore definitely worth a visit!
