Safari lodge among granite rocks
Big Cave Camp is a unique lodge built on a granite hill with stunning views over the famous Matobo Hills National Park.
Seven simple A-shaped cottages built in stone with thatched roofs are fully integrated between huge granite boulders and ancient Khoisan rock art. In the late afternoon, enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valleys from your comfortable chair on the terrace as the sun caresses the rocks.
Whovi wilderness is a special protected area for both white and black rhinoceros. The best way to observe these rare animals is on foot, accompanied by a professional guide. At Matobo Hills, you can spot birds of prey such as the majestic black eagle or the elusive Cape Mackinder's Oehoe. Get to know the region's rich cultural diversity: admire the ancient Khoisan rock paintings and visit the nearby Ndebele village.
a cooling rock pool and crackling campfires
After a day of adventure, it's wonderful to cool off in the rock pool or in the boma, sipping on an ice-cold lung drink as the sun sinks red on the horizon. Breakfast and lunch are served outside, but dinner is served by a crackling campfire with the wonderful Matobo Hills as the backdrop.
