Spectacular views guaranteed!
Tips & tops of Expedition snow leopard safari:
- Visit the countless monasteries and palaces in the scenic surroundings of Leh as you give your body time to get used to the high altitude. The Sankar Gompa, Shanti stupa and the Leh palace are well worth it!
- On route to Ulley you will pass Likir, one of Ladakh's most famous monasteries
- The bird life in the Himalayas is particularly rich, scouring the sky for black-neck cranes, golden eagles and lamb vultures
- The Snow Leopard Lodge, located at an altitude of about 4,000 metres, was originally the home of snow leopard track legend Tchewang Norbu, now the only wildlife lodge in Ladakh
- Unlike Rumbak - the first snow leopard destination - Ulley has (still) barely been discovered by tourism
- The number of snow leopards worldwide is estimated at 4,000 - 6,500
- Trackings are partly per vehicle, partly on foot, always accompanied by very dedicated expert spotters and guides. With any luck, you will not only see a snow leopard but also a Tibetan wolf, oerial, ibex and fox
- The primary diet of snow leopards consists of the sheep and goats that move deftly through the rock landscape
- Be surprised by the Ladakh cuisine; Thukpa, pakthuk and for breakfast khambir
- A Ladakhs saying reads: "A snowleopard is as beautiful as ten women, as strong as ten men, and as wise as wise as ten astronomers." After this trip you can confirm that!
