With only monasteries against the surrounding Himalayas as neighbors, this haven offers you a fantastic stay in a wonderfully peaceful environment. The atmospheric rooms were built using mainly local, natural materials such as mud bricks, poplar and vine branches from the village, stones and earth from their own land and Hemang tiles from villages along the Zanskar River

Tips & Tops Indus River Camp:
- The camp is run by an English/Indian couple and features a total of eight accommodations, with a choice of cottages, cabins and a family suite, all with views of the Indus and the Shey Palace
- Choose from many activities such as a trek to a nearby monastery, motor white water rafting on the Indus River, a nature tour for bird watching, a cooking course with a local Ladakhi family or admire the impressive sand dunes of Nubra
- The camp is owned by the Indus Welfare Society, a local organization of Buddhist villagers from the village of Chuchot Yokma, three of whom shaped the camp in its current form
- The property strives to remain in harmony with flora and fauna and avoids the use of single-use plastic whenever possible.
