Korea's seaside resort
At the coast
Dynamic and diverse Busan is beautifully situated, leaning against Geumgang Mountain and ending in the Sea of Japan . Expanding around what is now South Korea 's largest port, it has an inviting rugged coastline where rocky outcrops and cliffs interrupt the powder-white sands. Most popular is the mile-long Haeundae Beach , an international draw and the scene of an abundancy of festivals. Also very popular with locals is the crescent - shaped sandy Gwangalli Beach . It overlooks the Gwangali Bridge , a span that connects Haeundae-gu in the east with Suyeong-gu in the west, where you can take in dazzling light shows every night. Get up early to visit Haedong Yonggung , the only temple facing the water and the city's most beautiful place to watch the sunrise. Also visit the world-famous Jagalchi Market, Korea's largest fish market where almost all vendors are women.
In the city
For colorful architecture, visit Gamcheon cultural village , the neighborhood referred to as Korea's Machu Picchu , where the Little Prince and his fox are sought-after models in the already photogenic setting. Foodies are also at the right place here. Seaside Busan has an incredible food scene: iconic street food, tasty, local variations of typical Korean dishes, and plenty of seafood. You can taste it at the lively night markets, but the streets are also full of food stalls, with BIFF Square being number one. It is not only teeming with stalls, it is also the setting for the annual film festival. For an overview of this beauty, lift yourself up at Busan Tower , go to the soothing summit of Geumgang Mt., or, what hardly anyone knows, the roof of the Lotte department store. Where the world can't find you…
