Visit the harbour where you can enjoy the fresh fish dishes in one of the many restaurants in the evening. The capital Ajaccio is also the birthplace of Napoleon and scattered throughout the city you will find various memories of this famous statesman. The lively harbour, cosy square Place Foch and the impressive Cathedral Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption should not be skipped. South of Ajaccio is the beautiful bay of Porto-Vecchio. With its turquoise blue water, this is one of the most photogenic places in Corsica. On the beautiful beach of Plage de Palombaggia you definitely want to spend an afternoon. On top of a cliff is the beautifully located town of Bonifacio. With many historic buildings, narrow streets with medieval houses and a cosy promenade you will not be bored for a moment. The lively studtenten city of Corte features a university, beautiful square Place Paoli, lots of restaurants and cosy cafes and of course a busy nightlife. Corte is located in a beautiful nature park where you can walk or mountain bike. The spectacular GR20 hiking trail at the Parc Naturel Régional de Corse is a great challenge for hiking enthusiasts. There are plenty of opportunities to cool off on the hot summer days. Around the entire coast of this part of France you will find beautiful seaside resorts and coastal beaches such as Malfalco or Saleccia. In a protected maritime park you can swim, dive or snorkel as at the islets of Cerbicales or Lavezzi and the archipelagos of Finocchiarlo or Scandola.
