Argentinian Patagonia - Los Glaciares National Park
Impressive glaciers, huge lakes and icebergs... Los Glaciares National Park is located in Argentinian Patagonia,on the border with Chile. It is home to no less than 47 large glaciers and some 200 smaller ones.
The most famous is the Perito Moreno glacier, the fastest moving glacier in the world. El Calafate is the starting point for a visit to the Perito Moreno. A special experience is taking a boat trip along the wall to see the icebergs breaking off from it. From El Calafate there are also trips to remote estancias and to other glaciers such as the largest in the world, the Upsala and the most beautiful, the Spegazinni. Or how about a culinary mini-cruise along the ice masses?
By public bus or with your rental car you can take a beautiful trip from El Calafate on the Patagonian steppe along the Viedma glacier to El Chaltén, the ideal base for day walks in Los Glaciares National Park to, for example, Laguna de los Tres at the Fitz Roy massive.
