De Pantanal van Venezuela
Los Llanos wetlands are often compared to the Pantanal in Brazil. It is a true paradise for nature lovers. This area is inhabited by more than 50 mammal species, including the largest rodent, capybara, tapirs, ocelots and the unique jaguar. During boat excursions you can find the caiman, the anaconda and the freshwater dolphin on the rivers. The vast area is also an ideal place for spotting many, many bird species.
Llos Llanos is located in the catchment area of the long Orinoco River. The area consists of vast savannas that flood every year for months. The name Llos Llanos means 'flat plains'. These plains occupy two-thirds of Venezuela, enclosed between the Andes and table mountains in the east of the country. On the endless plain live the Llaneros, the oldest cowboys on the continent.
