Thousands of arches and rock formations
The story of Arches National Park begins about 65 million years ago. This area of Utah then consisted of a dry seabed that stretched from horizon to horizon. Erosive forces were given free rein over the years: water, wind, ice and heat dragged the rock further and further, forming the characteristic arches of which you will not find so many anywhere in the world. When you enter the park you will first see the Courthouse Towers, red rocks in special formations. Enjoy spectacular views of the La Sal Mountains from here. In the middle of the park you will notice Balance Rock, a meter high rock on top of another rock where it looks like the top rock could fall off at any moment. Take beautiful walks through the desert past Double O Arch, Landscape Arch and the other impressive arches and rock formations. Although Arches National Park is one of the smaller national parks in the United States , it will undoubtedly leave an indelible impression on you.
