We have been back from Botswana for a few weeks now, but we hadn't got around to telling you about our experiences. We had a fantastic trip. We enjoyed a lot. The trip was well organized and the accommodations were very good. Transport between the different locations was also well organised.
Toka Leya was beautiful, we couldn't see the falls very well from the Zambia side because there was a lot of water and the downfall obscured our view. Taking pictures was therefore difficult unless you had a camera that could shoot underwater or from the side. However, that was more than made up for when we flew over the falls on our way to Botswana. The Okavango is in one word amazing. What an area.
There was a lot of water and the water had also advanced far, we understood. Photos were shown how, for example, in Selinda two years ago the water was still far away from the lodge and now the water came up to the lodge. We went through and over water a lot, sometimes resulting in wet feet (and wet pants). But you know that when you travel in a wetland.
Lots of pictures and movies and also seen special things. Elephants that grazed in front of and next to our tent at night and leaned against the wooden construction of our tent to sleep for a while.. You could almost touch them… Of course the lions and their buffalo hunt through the water, but also saw a leopard chasing an ibex right in front of our car and caught a group of wild dogs near Stanley Camp (we had been looking for Selinda and didn't find it and didn't expect to see any more wild dogs. But still at the last minute at our last lodge) . Our guide at Seba Camp (where we saw the leopard hunt) went crazy with the movie we made of the leopard. He'd never seen it before, let alone captured it. He now has our video so that he can show off… In short, we have seen and recorded a lot and enjoyed it immensely.
This was a very special holiday and we can enjoy it for a long time.
