A lush green valley
Lubango is the capital of Huila Province and is located in a tropical, green valley. The city is protected by a large Christ statue on the surrounding hills, a plateau called Humpata. The Christ statue is a replica of the statue near Rio de Janeiro. In Lubango you will find many colonial buildings, pleasant bars and restaurants as a legacy of the Portuguese period. Visit the spectacular Gorge Tunda Valaor the Christ statue where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the city.
Lubango is also the ideal base for visiting the various tribes in southwestern Angola.
