A lush green valley
Lubango is the capital of Huila Province and is located in a tropical, green valley. The city is protected by a large Christ statue on the surrounding hills, a plateau called Humpata. The Christ statue is a replica of the statue near Rio de Janeiro. In Lubango you will find many colonial buildings, pleasant bars and restaurants as a legacy of the Portuguese period. Lubango is also the ideal base for visiting the various tribes in southwestern Angola.
