The Senoufo is an ethnic group, living according to a strict class system similar to the caste system in India. The farmers are at the top and musicians are at the very bottom. Farmers are inextricably linked to the culture. The Senoufo are also known for their handmade masks, carvings and bronze statues. For women it is very important to be able to cook well, it is even so that a woman who can not, or cannot cook well is a shame for her family. The Senoufo is a people who live according to the animist tradition and believe that everything is determined by the spirit of the ancestors.
