Pyramids guarded by the sphinx
During a tour of Egypt should not miss a visit to the Giza complex. Here, in addition to six smaller pyramids, are the pyramids of Cheops (Khufu), Chefren (Khafre) and Mykerinos (Menkaure). The pyramid of Cheops is the largest of the three and is one of the classic Seven Wonders of the World and the only one of the seven still standing. and it is also the only pyramid where you can walk both up and down. Walk down from the pyramids and you will meet the sphinx, the guardian of the kingdom of the dead with the body of a lion and the head of a man.
Solar Boat
Under the sand in a trench near the pyramid of Cheops, an archaeologist found a ship, the solar boat, dating back to 2,500 BC. Scientists assume it belonged to Pharaoh Cheops but it is not clear whether it was an ordinary means of transportation or his burial boat. The ship has been beautifully restored and you can admire it with your own eyes in the museum next to Cheops' pyramid.
Tens of thousands of people worked on the construction of the three pyramids for years, and an entire village was built to house them. Unlike the tombs of the pharaohs, which are in the Kingdom of the Dead, the workers were buried in the Kingdom of the Living.
To fully experience the mystery of the pyramids, we recommend walking around here by moonlight; for photos, the end of the day is ideal.
