Tropical rainforest in Africa
Nyungwe Forest National Park is located in southwestern Rwanda. The park is one of the last tropical mountain rainforests in Africa with imposing forest giants and lush climbing plants. It is home to more than 100 species of orchids. Walk through the park well maintained and signposted hiking trails. There are no less than 12 primates living in the forest; baboons, meerkats, Silver monkey but also rare primates like owl-faced monkey, Mona monkey and L'cough monkey. It is possible to search for a group of chimpanzees or other monkey species under the guidance of a local guide. For bird lovers, this park is a paradise with almost 300 bird species, 24 of which are endemic from Albertine Rift valley. Many of these animals and plants can only be found in this area of the world and that is what makes it so special.
