Spectacular wilderness
The very remote Tafika Camp is located on the banks of the Luangwa River, north of the Nsefu sector of South Luangwa National Park. You will stay in simple open chalets made from natural materials that will make you feel at one with the surrounding natural beauty. Roaring hippos, birdsong and a friendly knock at your door announce the start of a new day full of exciting safaris where you will search for large and small game on foot or by vehicle. Dine under breathtaking starry skies, watch night animals become active on an adventurous evening safari and end the day in your comfortable chalet where the sounds of the bush will lull you to sleep. Tips & Tops Tafika Camp:
- Small scale with only six chalets and room for a total of 14 people
- Children 8 years and older are welcome
- Experience optimal freedom during a wonderful outdoor shower
- Choice of various activities such as day and night safaris by vehicle and on foot, mountain bike tours, visit to local Mkasanga village
- Look for the magnificent serval and the stately crowned crane (from August) in the salt pans
- Access to 3 different habitats: the Luangwa riverbank, the Mutanda plains and the salt pans
- Watch wildlife come to quench their thirst at the waterhole from the two shelters
- Perfectly combined with a visit to North Luangwa National Park, stay at sister lodges Mwaleshi or Takwela Camp
Takwela Camp:
This relatively new camp opened in July 2019 where the Luangwa and Mwaleshi rivers converge. Takwela offers an intimate wilderness experience and the rare opportunity to visit a stunning and unexplored area of North Luangwa. Its remote location gives you almost exclusive access to more than 50 kilometers of the Luangwa River. You will stay in one of two en-suite chalets. Two chalets have been added in 2020. Enjoy a wonderful outdoor shower and the amazing view from your chalet. The camp is powered by solar energy and built primarily of local materials. Search for lions, leopards, hippos, elephants or wild dogs on fantastic safaris by vehicle or on foot. Birders are also feasting their eyes with as many as 416 different species of birds.
Mwaleshi Camp:
Small-scale safari camp with only four chalets in the vast wilderness of North Luangwa National Park on the banks of the Mwaleshi River. There are few roads in this remote area and most activities are done on foot, along existing animal trails. Visit the Mwaleshi Falls located upstream from the camp, take an adventurous walking safari or discover the magic of big and small game by vehicle. Your chalet offers you a bathroom with a view of the spectacular Mwaleshi River and at night a breathtaking starry sky.
