Hiking and canoe safaris in Mana Pools
The mighty Zambezi River flows from Lake Kariba through the Lower Zambezi Valley and has created islands, small lakes, canals and sandbanks. On the banks you will find lush vegetation and old large mahogany and ebony trees. The abundance of water and lush greenery guarantee a rich wildlife life in this valley.
The landscape offers the perfect conditions for hiking safaris. On the water, canoe safaris are one of Zimbabwe's ultimate experiences where you have a beautiful view of the valley. During the rainy season from January to March most camps are closed here and the big game moves away from the river. Around April the waterholes begin to dry up and the animals return to the river. As the year progresses, large herds of elephants and buffaloes are observed, as well as kudoe, moose, waterbuck, zebra, impala and many other antelopes. There is a wide variety of birds. The wildlife has become accustomed to people on foot which makes Mana Pools one of the best African national parks for hiking safaris!
