Mauritius Botanical Gardens
The Botanical Garden of pample mousses , officially the Royal Botanic Gardens of Sir Seewooragur Ramgoolam Botanic Garden called, covers an area in green Mauritius of about 24 hectares and is about 11 km from Port Louis . You will pass various ponds and terraces via the beautiful hiking trails. Pamplemousses is most famous for the beautiful large water lilies, Victoria Amazonica, which can carry a weight of more than 45 kg! In addition to the giant water lilies, the garden also has spices, ebony, sugar cane and 85 species of palms from Central America, Asia, Africa and the islands around the Indian Ocean. Many of the trees have been planted by world leaders and royalty, including Princess Margaret, Indira Gandhi, François Mitterrand and Robert Mugabe.
