NATURAL TUNNEL
The long tail boat sails upstream over the Hin Boun River. The greenish water flows calmly between sandy banks, lined with tall trees and limestone cliffs. You are heading for a gaping mouth, the entrance to the Kong Lor Cave. All of a sudden it gets dark, cooler, humid, and every sound reflects hollow against the rock walls. From that moment on, you mean 7.5 kilometers through the bowels of the mountain, a breathtakingly beautiful experience!
THE SHORTEST WAY TO THE VALLEY
For the locals, the trek through the Kong Lor Cave is the shortest way to the valley behind the mountain. You may be overtaken by a boat, which is on its way to the other side without any further ados. However, you have time to look around and get out a few times, and marvel at the gigantic proportions of this cave. In some places the cave is tens of meters wide and tall, like natural cathedrals with huge stalactites and stalactites. The appearance of the headlamp scans the walls, the whimsy of the route full of bends is unpredictable. The sunlight comes as a surprise, just pinching your eyes.
