World of misty, magical cloud forests
The construction of The Federal Route 59, in the twenties of the last century, marked the beginning of the development of the Cameron Highlands. British colonial rule established a government post here, and prosperous Britons enjoyed the invigorating coolness in the mountains in their country quarters. The success of the first tea plantation did not go unnoticed, and many agricultural entrepreneurs flocked to the area.
Montane rainforests
The drive to the Cameron Highlands is impressively beautiful and scenic. You will traverse montane rainforests, where Serow mountain goats, wild boar and beautiful butterfly species live. Among the dense vegetation you can search for tender orchids. This is also the domain of the original inhabitants of the area, the Orang Asli. Retreated into the forest, in small villages, they live in harmony with the natural environment.
Horticulture and tea plantations
Where the walls of green end, the landscape opens to rolling fields full of tea bushes, strawberry plants and flowers. Traces of the British colonial heritage are still visible in the vast, cultivated parts of the Cameron Highlands. After a visit to a tea plantation you can also enjoy a delicious high tea with scones.
Fairy-tale cloud forests
In the distance, the highest mountain ranges loom. This is the world of misty, magical cloud forests. Put on sturdy walking shoes for a walk among trees covered with beard mosses and epiphytes, the soil is covered with ferns and spongy mosses.
