Danum Valley Rainforest
A walk through the rainforest is exciting. The cacophony of animal cries indicates that it is busy in the forest, but it is the art of finding the animals. Your guide recognizes the call of several primates, his experienced eyes find special amphibians and reptiles among the greenery, he finds fresh traces on the moist ground. At the bottom of the forest live large mammals, such as the Malay bear, mistpanters, bantengs, bearded pigs, deer, and even the Borneo dwarf elephant. Your guide will point the ears and gesture to follow him. Maybe it's your lucky day.
However, most forest dwellers rarely, if ever, get to the ground. They live high in the trees, jump from branch to branch, or build their nest in the tree crowns. The largest forest giants of the Danum Valley are no less than 70 meters high! A 300-metre canopy walk leads you through the most densely populated part of the rainforest. Via a spiral staircase around a tree trunk you climb to 26 meters altitude, to the trajectory of solid suspension bridges and viewing platforms. Here you can search for orangutans, gibbons and long-timers, and for hundreds of bird species. Take your time and enjoy, this is one of the most beautiful canopy walks in Malaysia!
