The Ari Atoll (also called Alifu Atoll) is one of the largest atolls and is located in the west of the archipelago. The 105 islands are spread over an area of about 89 by 30 km. 18 islands are earmarked for tourism. The Ari Atoll is one of the most developed tourist sections of the Maldives, which sometimes seems unlikely when you look out over the water from your bungalow and forget about the rest of the world. The Alifu Alifu Atoll is the northern part of the Ari Atoll and consists of the northern half of the Ari Atoll and the small Rasdhoo Atoll and Thoddoo. On Thoddoo lie the ruins of a Buddhist temple. The Alifu Dhaalu Atoll is the southern part of the Ari Atoll. There are several resorts here.
