Lodge on the edge of the inhabited world
In the northernmost state of Kachin,a few kilometres from the city of Putao,is Malikha Lodge. You are here on the edge of the inhabited world, overlooking the Lam Pang River, forests and rice paddies. In the distance rise the snowy peaks of the Eastern Himalayas. In addition to these majestic mountains, the proportions of the grounds around the lodge seem to be nil. From a distance, the main building - built from wood and other natural materials - looks little bigger than a spacious mountain hut. Upon entering, however, you will be welcomed in a spacious open space, with the cosy atmosphere of a dark winter evening. Two huge fireplaces create a pleasant warm glow. Time for an aperitif? Just relax and talk until dinner is served. You can count on extremely friendly service here.
The bungalow suites are also surprisingly spacious in design. In the shelter of the terrace you can enjoy the views over the river, and the Himalayas in the distance. You are surrounded here by rustic landscaped gardens, which subtly pass into the wilderness. Colour nuances change per part of the day, per day, it never gets bored! Leave the evening cold outside, close the doors behind you when the day is almost over. The heart of your suite is a wood fire, another delightful discovery is the teak bathtub. The day was dominated by the cold, raging waters of the Lam Pang River, where the warm water stands still so that you can relax completely.
Decadent homeliness, comfort and a warm welcome, just what you need after a day of activities in the beautiful surroundings.
