SMALL-SCALE AND UNIQUELY LOCATED BUSHCAMP IN SRI LANKA'S HILLCOUNTRY
The misty air filters the soft rays of the sun that rises behind the mountains, the sounds of hundreds of birds slowly penetrate into you and let you wake up quietly. Here you are in the middle of nature. Welcome to Ahaspokuna! Ahaspokuna is a small-scale bushcamp in sri Lanka's pristine hillcountry. At a pre-arranged place you will be met by the extremely friendly staff for a first walk to the lodge. Cars don't drive here, everything's done on foot. On foot you can hear, feel, smell and experience the pure nature optimally. Join your guide to explore on foot and see tropical birds, native trees, and colorful butterflies here. From your own ensuite tent you have great views of the surrounding grasslands. The accommodations are placed in such a way that you can see the elephants in the watering hole. Leopards also regularly make themselves heard when you are sleeping on your 'starbed'. 'Where the world can't find you...'
Ahaspokuna offers special walks through virgin area. Together with a professional naturalist, you will discover the dense forest like you have never done before in Sri Lanka. Whether you want a short, an easy, half-day or an adventurous walk, at Ahaspokuna there is much possible!
TIPS & TOPS FROM AHASPOKUNA:
- Opened in January 2017
- The property is only accessible on foot. The last 2 km you have to walk on foot
- Ahaspokuna has only three tents; up to six people can enjoy stunning views of the open grasslands and mountains from their own tent suite
- Each space tent suite features its own starbed and a unique bush bathtub overlooking the green surroundings
- The walks are accompanied by a professional naturalist and experienced bushmen who have lived in the area. A focus will be placed on the rich bird life, the beautiful landscape, the history etc. The walks can be adapted to your interests
- In addition to walking safaris, you can take part in yoga and meditation sessions, have a delicious ayurveda massage, attend cooking workshops and/or take a jeep safari in Udawalawe National Park
- Children as young as eight are welcome
