Surrounded by thousands of coral atolls and framed by pristine sandy beaches, Cuba 's interior is home to a rich variety of landscapes. From Pinar del Rio in the west to Baracoa in the far east, it ranges from valleys surrounded by limestone plateaus through tropical plantations to rugged mountains and forests in the east.
