Saba: A Paradise for Bird Lovers
Saba is a paradise for birdwatchers, with more than 100 recorded bird species. Both native and migratory species inhabit the steep coastal cliffs and the cloud forest around Mount Scenery. The island’s entire coastline has been designated an Important Bird Area by BirdLife International due to its significant seabird breeding colonies. In addition to the numerous Red-billed Tropicbirds, Audubon’s Shearwaters, Brown Boobies, American Frigatebirds, White-tailed Tropicbirds, and various terns are also regularly seen. During migration, numerous songbirds and waders also visit the island, making Saba an attractive destination for birdwatchers year-round.
