Aurora Borealis in Denmark
The Aurora Borealis, better known as the Northern Lights, is a natural phenomenon that occurs when solar particles interact with the atmosphere in the Earth's magnetic field. This releases energy, creating mysterious luminous green streaks across the sky that can be complemented by large expanses full of beautiful pillars of light and even moving shapes in green but depending on the strength also in other colors such as pink or purple.
Best time and place
From late September to early April is the best time for seeing the Northern Lights. Led by professional local guides you can hunt during clear winter nights, these guides know the best locations and conditions to experience the Aurora Borealis. Places with low air pollution in Northern Jutland such as Skagen and Ålborg are highly recommended as are the island of Møn and Greenland especially in the small town of Kangerlussuaq.
