Plateau above 4000 meters
The unknown high north of Chile close to Bolivia houses a very desolate breathtaking landscape with beautiful national parks Salar de Surire, Las Vicuñas National Park and Lauca National Park. You will feel small in the inhospitable primeval landscape with huge volcanoes and salt flats. The barren slopes of the volcanoes are often very spectacular and photogenicly colored. In this very sparsely populated area, you'll get to know tiny typical Andean settlements and meet hundreds of llamas and alpacas, groups of vicuñas and proud flamingos.
