Charming wine region in Uruguay
Carmelo is idyllically located in the heart of one of Uruguay's best wine regions and not far from Colonia del Sacramento. It is located on the banks of the Río de la Plata and has some beautiful beaches. The charming cobbled streets of the town are a pleasure to explore. There are a few colonial houses, interesting museums, open-air restaurants and excellent wineries to discover. Wine production in the region is small-scale and often run by a family, which adds to carmelo's charm. The surrounding areas offer numerous outdoor activities such as canoeing, polo, fishing and horse riding.
