Lodge in the Dubai Desert Reserve
Al Maha Desert Lodge is well hidden among the sand dunes. A breath of wind and in the distance the peaks of the Al Hajar Mountains. To bring these a little closer, binoculars are at the ready. They also make it easier to admire the antelope and oryx that roam freely in the Dubai Desert Reserve. For although the resort is only an hour from Dubai, Al Maha is in the middle of nature.
Despite Al Maha having several suites, guests imagine themselves alone in the desert. Spaced widely apart are the Arabian-style suites. Full of antiques and furniture that may have served in an Arab household 50 years ago. All the utensils also have a history. You drink tea from the teapot from which perhaps a sheikh once drank his tea.
Peace and quiet. But there are more ways to enjoy the desert. Trust the camel's sense of direction and get carried away through the sand. A falconer shows off his skills. And with the Wildlife Trek, you will see the animals that are difficult to discern in the sand even with the keen eye of a falcon. Local naturalists tell the secrets of the Ghaf Trees. How did this forest come to be in the middle of the desert?
