Protecting wildlife and empowering local communities
Natural Selection was founded out of our commitment to environmental conservation and the need to protect Africa’s important natural and wildlife areas for the benefit of future generations. We also have a strong commitment to community development and carry out community outreach projects in villages in close proximity to our camps. This reflects our goal of improving the living conditions of communities living with wildlife.
In line with our mission “to be a force for good in the protection of natural habitats,” 1.5% of each guest’s stay at Natural Selection camps is dedicated to regional conservation and community initiatives. In addition to this 1.5% contribution, Natural Selection has implemented a Conservation, Community and Reserve Fee per person per night. This non-refundable fee provides essential funding for our operating areas, focused on protecting wildlife and their habitats, supporting local communities and managing reserves and concessions.
Since 2016, we have funded the development, implementation or continuation of 98 conservation and community projects: 61 in Botswana, 33 in Namibia, 3 in South Africa and 1 in Madagascar. Of these, 64 focus on community development and 34 on wildlife conservation.
