Lake Tana
Lake Tana is the largest lake in Ethiopia and also the highest lake in Africa. The lake is located in the north of Ethiopia and is the source of the Blue Nile. On a tour of northern Ethiopia, take a boat trip on Lake Tana and visit a number of small islands. On the islands there are still centuries-old monasteries, which are inhabited by monks. There are many birds living by the lake and you will definitely see pelicans. On the edge of the lake is the town of Bahir Dar with an interesting colourful market.
Blue Nile Falls
The Blue Nile are not as spectacular as the Victoria falls on the border with Zambia and Zimbabwe, but they are well worth a visit. Over hundreds of meters, the water pours down more than 40 meters. You can descend to close to the falls and will see that the splashing water has caused a lush vegetation.
