Dunes de Dovela is an ecolodge a stone's throw from Inhambane. Here you can feel the energy of the pristine beauties of the Mozambican coast. Through education, training and the creation of ACCM (Associação de Conservação Costeira de Moçambique), Dunes de Dovela tries to inform the local community about the enormous value of their natural and cultural heritage.The lodge is hand-built by locals, on top of the secondary dunes. Guaranteed stunning views of the Indian Ocean, the dunes and unexplored forest!
There are two types of stays; three luxury bungalows and four semi-luxury dome tents. The double bungalows are situated on the tops of the dunes and have a terrace with sea view, a bathroom with bathtub, separate toilet and outdoor shower. The dome tents are located on a private wooden platform on the coast in the forest and have a fantastic private terrace. Both stays include full board and personal care. These accommodations are 40-80 metres away from the common areas; reception, restaurant and bar.
Organic agricultural project of the Onhacongo
The French-tinged kitchen provides an extensive breakfast buffet, a three-course lunch and dinner every day. The most tasty dishes are prepared with products from the vegetable gardens on the edge of Lake Dongane, an organic agricultural project of the Onhacongoo. You can use the meals in the restaurant, on the patio or on the terrace of your bungalow.
There are plenty of activities possible. The paths through the dunes, through the forest, along the Dongane Lake and the endless unspoilt beach make it wonderful to walk here. Local guides make sure you don't miss anything; plants, fruits, velvet monkeys... There are even special guides for both novice and advanced birdwatchers.
From the terraces you can enjoy the humpback whales; the migration takes place from June to October. Together with Mozdivers and Yara Tibiriça Dunes organizes the Devola 'ocean safari'. Deep-sea divers can indulge in Zavora, the nearby globally recognized dive site because of the wreck and the matra rays. But we also recommend kayaking and snorkelling along the rocky reefs!
