One of the largest bird reserves in the world
Djoudj National Park is one of the three largest bird reserves in the world. This national park (the first place after the Sahara where there is water all year round) is one of the most important places for migratory birds from Europe to hibernate. More than three million birds live in and around the marshes and lakes, but crocodiles, monkeys, gazelles and jackals also find enough food and water to survive. The park is only open part of the year: from November to the end of April.
