Highest mountain of Africa
The imposing Kilimanjaro (5896 m) speaks to everyone's imagination. Mount Kilimanjaro has become a trademark of Africa. With its snowy mountain top, this highest mountain in Africa towers powerfully above the surrounding lowlands. The ascent of Kilimanjaro is worth while just because of the variety of landscapes and the phenomenal views. During the climb you will walk through different vegetation zones. The lower parts of the slopes are dotted with fields, followed by tropical rainforest with beard mosses, orchids and streams. Higher up you will find moorlandscapes with giant lobelias and giant crucifixes and eventually you will walk on snow along walls of ice. Be advised which climbing route is best suited for you (Machame, Marangu... anything is possible).
