'Where luxury meets wilderness'
Deep in the wilderness of South Luangwa are four temporary bush camps. These are open during the dry season, when access roads are passable and game is increasingly concentrated around waterholes. The luxury encampments are in beautiful locations away from the more usual safari routes. These are pristine parts of the game reserve, where you are guests in the domain of lions, leopards, wild dogs, elephants, giraffes and more. Closer you cannot get, it is a truly intense experience. Where the world can't find you...
A symphony of sustainability
Each year, Time&Tide's seasonal bush camps are refurbished and redecorated. During the rainy season, these encampments stand empty, unmanned and often virtually inaccessible, the wind blows through the empty spaces and the rain beats in. When the rains stop, everything is quickly prepared again to receive guests. It is quite an operation in which degraded natural materials are returned to nature, to be replaced by new grass roofs and walls of reeds. A true transformation resulting in a bushcamp that feels completely new and fresh. Not only are the structures built from biodegradable materials, the camp's footprint is kept as small as possible in many ways, such as through the use of solar energy and a responsible water and waste policy.
Tips and Tops Seasonal bushcamps from Time&Tide:
- Luwi: the only fully mobile encampment consists of sturdy, spacious safari tents. The common area is also a very spacious and open tent. The furnishings are benevolent and comfortable
- Nsolo: on the elevated wooden decks you will have a great view of the surroundings. Dine under the stars and take in all the sounds, here you live to the rhythm of nature
- Kakuli: It is hardly imaginable that this is a temporary camp, so much comfort is offered by Kakuli's facilities. Discover the secrets of the Luangwa River by boat, on foot and by safari vehicle
- Mchenja: the most luxurious of the four, where even sitting in classic armchairs under the trees you are still on safari. You will hear baboons "barking" and how an elephant just down the road feasts on huge tree seeds
