Unexplored tropical jungle full of unknown wildlife
This mountain range northeast of Phnom Penhis one of the largest and still largely unexplored forests in Southeast Asia. The humid climate and unspoilt nature of the rocky mountain slopes has produced a rich variety of wildlife, some of which have not even been mapped yet. The dense tropical rainforest is home to panthers, tigers, wild dogs, Malay bears, Irrawaddy dolphins, Siamese crocodiles and in all likelihood the largest population of Asian elephants of Indochina. That, and an incredibly rich bird life with at least 450 different species, makes the Cardamom Mountains an absolute must for adventurous nature lovers as part of a trip through Cambodia.
