Colorful underwater world and tropical beaches
Northwest of Lombok are the three Gili islands, Trawangan, Meno and Air where you can go for bright white sandy beaches and explore the colorful underwater world.
The largest and most vibrant island of the three is Gili Trawangan. You can dive or snorkel there or relax on the beach but also explore the island by bicycle or horseback. The water is very clear and among the coral lives turtles, reef sharks, seahorses and stingrays, among others.
Gili Air is the closest to Lombok and was the first place fishermen ever settled. It has the most beautiful sandy beaches in the archipelago and from the southeast of the island you have fantastic views of the Gunung Rinjani volcano.
Gili Meno is the right destination if you are looking for tranquility and pristine beaches. On the island there is a turtle sanctuary where small turtles can be safely hatched and raised. Worth your visit.
