River in the lush jungle of Sabah
The 560 km long Kinabatangan River winds its way through the jungle of Sabah before it flows into the Saba Sea. The river meanders through mangroves that pass into impenetrable tropical rainforest, the perfect starting point to see wildlife.
Jungle tours and river cruises
Along the Kinabatangan River, several small villages are the starting point for river cruises. Step into a small boat and be guided by a guide to guide you through the river landscape. At sunrise and just before dawn, rare animals such as orangutans, native nose monkeys, pygmy elephants, snakes, mouse deer and many species of birds are most likely to be observed. Nocturnal cruises promise encounters with saltwater crocodiles and, with a little luck, the shy mistpanter... An unforgettable wildlife experience.
During the rainy season (November-March) the boat can go deeper into the river channels, making the chance of spotting wildly even greater.
