- The Xiaoyoukeng is an impressive fumarole: an opening in the earth's soil from which gases emerge, making the water so hot you can boil an egg in it

- Around Sun Moon Lake, some 750 m above sea level are interesting temples including the Wenwu Temple, here you can walk to the top for a panoramic view of the lake
