Traditional wooden architecture
At the foot of the Tatra Mountains inthe south of Poland lies Zakopane. In winter it is a popular winter sports resort but also in the summer there is a lot to do. For example, you can take the cable car to Kasprowy Wierch and Gubałowka. Once upstairs, enjoy stunning vistas. In the atmospheric centre of Zakopane you will find beautiful, characteristic wooden chapels and houses, some of which house museums, as well as cosy restaurants and terraces.
Spectacular peaks and unspoilt nature
Meet one of the roughest areas in Europe. The high Tatra is a true hiking paradise. A trip to the beautiful Morsie Oko lake, or 'the eye of the sea', is a unique experience. Or visit a local sheep cheese factory and sample the smoked cheese Oscypek. Did you know that the Tatra is the only place in Poland where mountain chamois and marmots live? In addition, you can also spot the brown bear or an imposing eagle.
