The red Tatacoa desert lies between the cloud forests of the Cordillera Central and the jungle of the Amazon. The desert is only 300 km2 and is home to a unique flora and fauna that you won't find anywhere else in Colombia. You will see several towering cactus species, beautiful sand formations, scorpions, weasels and fossils. The desert is surrounded by high mountains that provide the necessary irrigation, which means that the area has a rich biodiversity.
